Edwardian Ball Maker’s Faire

Edwardian Ball Maker's Faire

Last week I went to the Maker’s Faire, which is the Friday night event associated with the annual Edwardian Ball. I’d seen many photos and posts and heard tales of Edwardian Ball from others but had never been before. So I finally went and it was lovely fun.

We played games. I was best at Skee-Ball. I was excited when the gal at the Shooting Range booth showed me the right way to shoot a rifle and I actually popped one balloon. I skipped the Cyclecide spinning bicycle.

We watched shows.

I loved the acrobatics and contortionists of Vau de Vire Society. I thought it was a bit amusing that this was the second can can show I’d seen in the past month (the last one at Old Tucson during Christmas vacation). I loved a performance of Cher’s “Bang Bang” song where one girl shot balloons off of the body of another one; the latter seemed to be a well-trained ballerina.

It’s always fun to see the spiritedness of this city, with its many events and costumes and creativity.
