I’m really having fun right now playing around with photography that captures reflections in windows and mirrors. This one is a storefront on Grant Street in San Francisco with the reflection of the building across the street included in it. What do you think?

A close-up photo of a berry that I saw while hiking. I like the berry part but don’t like how the leaf in front came out so blurry. How do you avoid that when taking close-up photos like this?

There was something that I just loved about the perspective of this lamp post against the building. It was taken in San Francisco’s Financial District as I was on my way somewhere. I think I’m gradually getting better at this photo thing. What do you think?

I love the fact that there are so many layers to this photograph. There is the subject whch is a rusty set of windchimes. There is the window behind it including the curtains hanging inside. And then there’s the reflection in the window showing the little clubhouse that’s behind the windchimes.

I live fairly close to Coit Tower in San Francisco. It’s a tough hike up a steep hill to get up there but once you do get there, you get a great view of the city. You also get to see a statue of Christopher Columbus although I have no idea why they decided to put a statue of him up there. I love the way he’s juxtaposed with the tower in this photo.

Today’s picture is an example of the kind of picture that I’d like to learn to manipulate with a photo editing program. I like the basic setup of the picture and the quality of it isn’t bad but I’d like to play around more with different light and color options. I really need to get on top of learning this stuff!

So I have to confess that today’s photo was actually taken by my sister. We went out hiking in the East Bay at this remote trail that was unlike anything else I’ve ever explored in the Bay Area. On the hike we saw these trees that I see now and then around here. They have this strange smooth bark. I’ve often wondered if it’s some kind of tree illness that causes this. If it is, it’s rather pretty anyway.

I’ve been playing around a lot lately with capturing reflections in photos. Mostly I’ve been taking photos of store windows that reflect whatever is across the street from them. In this case, I chose an angle that would let me get the reflection of the lamps hanging right outside the window of a restaurant in San Francisco.

Today’s photo was actually taken a couple of weekends ago at San Francisco’s Pride Parade. I didn’t get too many good shots of the parade itself since it was so jam-packed down there but I got a few good ones of the various people who had come out to watch the Parade. Here’s one:
