Here are some various photos that I haven’t yet shared on this blog. These are mostly things I did share about before on the blog but only uploaded some of the photos from and didn’t share these specific ones yet. Enjoy these snippets into my life!
Back in mid-February I shared 10 random things that made me smile. It’s about time for another roundup, isn’t it?
1. Live Music at Burlesque
There are lots of opportunities to see burlesque shows in San Francisco. My favorite is when you also get to hear live music with the show. This was Little Minsky’s at Club Deluxe in The Haight (which I mentioned previously because I liked their pizza and Spa Collins). I loved the upright bass and there was also a live sax and a piano player. The hostess sang her own songs as did two of ther performers, one of which was Lily Fawn who I adored.
2. Storefront Sculpture
I was walking by a storefront in The Tenderloin and saw this sculpture. I can’t remember if this was a nail salon or a psychic or what but I liked the window display.
3. Boat Bikes
From the Fun Bike Unicorn Club
4. Red Door Restaurant Signage
A wacky San Francisco restaurant (or “non-restaurant”) that I still haven’t been to although I’ve tried to go.
5. Poetry Along The Pier
This is a portion of the poetry that is on the pier. I can’t remember what pier number it is but it’s one of the even numbered piers near The Ferry Building.
6. San Francisco Street Performer
I actually liked his music, too, which I wouldn’t necessarily have expected from the get-up.
7. Pony Rides
San Francisco is animal-friendly and tech-loving.
8. Diner Art
Toast, a diner on Polk Street, has some great 3D art on the walls.
9. View from Telegraph Hill
I know everyone loves The Golden Gate Bridge, but I’m partial to the Bay Bridge myself. Of course, more people are starting to love it like I do now that it’s home to the world’s largest-ever LED light display.
10. Farinata and Other Food
I already told you I enjoyed learning to make farinata but it was so good it’s worth mentioning again!
A couple of days ago I mentioned that I stumbled upon a lovely orchid greenhouse/ store/ boarding center. Here are some more photos of plants from that visit:
Earlier this week I shared with you some of my sister’s photos from her trip to Israel, which she happened to store on my computer because she came to visit me right after she was there. Oddly enough another friend also recently stored images on my computer after a trip, this time to Amsterdam, so I figured why not share those with you too?
Some of the things I did in July:
- Reorganized the living room
- Had brunch with a friend who was getting ready to leave town
- Tried red corn
- Went to SF MoMA
- Went to DeYoung
- Made white sangria
- Celebrated my new book
- Tried a maple bacon cupcake but didn’t really like it
- Saw Golden Gate Park from the DeYoung observation room
- Walked past a famous mansion in my area
- Tried to grow mushrooms but failed
- Had deep fried kool-aid and loved it
- Walked through Golden Gate Park several times
- Ate lots of fresh foods
- Made some collage crochet art
- Re-styled an old crochet dress and made a new crochet dress
- More Jazz fest
- Went to the Museum of Folk Art and Craft
I try to get out and walk a lot for exercise and fresh air. With lots of steep hills around me, it’s easy to get that exercise! Here are a few photos of things I’ve seen on recent walks:
Mostly I see a lot of this!
With the occasional sign to let me know in case I wasn’t sure that this was a hill
And some more stairs
With occasionally prettier staircases – this set is the Normandie Stairs
But sometimes the hill will have a dog
Or some beautiful landscaping
Or the occasional historic mansion
Yes, I do love where I live.
I’m continuing to eat tons of salads although I’m eating other veggies now and then too.
Edible Flower Herb Salad with Gorgonzola; Italian (storebought) dressing
Wax Bean Salad with Fresno Peppers; lemon black pepper homemade dress
Butter lettuce salad with black pepper salami; basic homemade oil and vinegar dressing
Raw corn salad with scallions and red peppers; mayo and miso
Broccoli rabe sauteed in garlic olive oil, golden beets in coconut butter, sunflower seeds and raisins
