I participate regularly in blog carnivals. I think it’s a great way to share my various articles around the web with people interested in the same topics that interest me. I also think it’s a great way to see what others are writing on similar topics.
For example, I recently wrote an article on Simple Trail Mix recipes which has been included a really interesting blog carnival called the Carnival of Homesteading. It was only one of two other recipes in the carnival – the other one being for brownies.
In addition to the recipes category, the other categories in this blog carnival were canning, farm animals, gardening (even indoors), recycling and general information on sustainable living and the homesteading way of life.
There were posts on a wide range of really specific topics including writing projects, health savings accounts, home loan refinancing, saving money on chicken, seasonal foods, politics, earth hour, online surveys, home sales, greeting cards, personal savings, cookware and bartering.
To be honest, I did feel like a lot of these posts weren’t really sticking closely to the theme of homesteading and sustainable living which is kind of disappointing in a blog but a lot of them were still really interesting to read.
